Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary was first established in 1987 to provide any donkey in distress or otherwise in need of care and attention, a safe and permanent home on the Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is a visitor attraction.
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is based between Shanklin and Ventnor on the road to Wroxall and we are open all year round from 10:00am till 4:30pm*, weather permitting. Everyone is welcome to come and visit our lovely donkeys including well behaved dogs. The charity relies entirely on donations, adoptions and the many fundraising activities held throughout the year.
Although admission is free, there are a number ways that people can contribute to the running costs of the sanctuary. There is a gift shop and café, a bric a brac shop, and a number of opportunities for people to donate through our donation boxes.
People adopt donkeys and in so doing become ‘members’ of the sanctuary, in that they get regular information about the progress and activities of the donkeys and activities on site.
